Interstate Mechanical Corp was started in 1912 by J.E. Johnson as Interstate Cornice Works, a sheet metal contractor. Some of the first major projects included a ventilation system for the State Capital Building in Lincoln, Nebraska and the Masonic Temple in Sioux City. The name was later changed to Interstate Air Conditioning Corporation and in 1983 Interstate merged with James P. Olson Company, a mechanical contractor, to form Interstate Mechanical Corp.
The firm is currently owned by Rich and Steve Olson. Mike Murphy manages the Sheet Metal Department and Gary Moberg manages the Plumbing & Piping Departments. Services include Plumbing & HVAC, Site Utilities, Industrial Piping, Architectural Metal Work and Metal Fabrication.
